STUDIO RECORDING AND VIDEO PRODUCTION
Studio Blue is a versatile space, and though limited in size compared to larger commercial studios, is an excellent fit for certain video projects, voice over, vocal tracking, and small music ensemble projects.
Using both the isolation room and the control room, jazz duo Bryn Roberts and John Stowell were able to safely record some of the best music produced in Portland during COVID.
As a part of our work with Artichoke Community Music, we produce ongoing interviews and workshops that capture the culture, music, and personalities that make Portland's music ecosystem uniquely vibrant.
A regionally prominent therapist and meditation guide, Greg Jesser, is a regular client, whose meditations are often captured both in audio and video at Studio Blue. The music bed was composed, recorded, mixed, and mastered at Studio Blue.
Video production in our studio can create an intimate and appealing result. With two-camera setups in the isolation area, we can capture excellent audio and video, editing it easily to help tell a story. This is famed Portland percussionist and saxophonist -- and leader in educational programming -- Christopher Brown.
Dmitri Matheny is a nationally-treasured flugelhorn player, and a protégé of Art Farmer. He joins John Stowell at Studio Blue to record from their ongoing Bossa nova project.
Studio Blue does remote pre-production and production, often in collaboration with venues and private parties. A staged concert during COVID with John Stowell and renowned regional pianist Greg Goebel featured a multi-camera shoot, with Studio Blue providing camera work, audio production setup, and post-production.
Remote shoots with existing light can be a challenge. To keep within budget, we use specialized software to color match, address lighting realities, and even match the "hand-held" look across our video capture to unify the production look.
